Taxonomy, Folksonomy, Linked Data Confusion

I came back from Drupalcon excited about adding RDF into the AASHE website and making some decisions about how to tag content on the website.

However, the more I think about how tagging and linked data relate, the more confused I get. The following is a presentation I put together comparing when to use folksonomy vs. taxonomy and how linked data (semantic web) relates. My next big step is to make a case why using standard tags and trying to make our data "linked" benefits the organization. I am going to try and put together some practical semantic web/linked data examples that I will post here as well.
