Favorite Stops in Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins

Eric and I spent last weekend in Colorado and had a fantastic time. We were in Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins. Colorado seems like a great place to live. Here are some of our favorite stops:

Denver
While Eric was sleeping, I went on run near our hotel. I was amazed to find a clearly marked dirt trail, which was part of the Sand Creek Greenway . The trail was designed for all types of activities. At one point, there was a sign that told bikers to go one way, horses to go another, and pedestrians to go a third way. What an amazing city!

Later on, Eric and I had a lot of fun walking around 16th Street Mall. At the end of the mall, we found an amazing bookstore called href="http://www.tatteredcover.com/">Tattered Cover Book Store. It is easily one of the best bookstores I have ever been in. The book selection was amazing. I could have spent all day relaxing in the comfy chairs and couches. Tatter Cover is what Borders and Barnes and Noble are trying to be.

For lunch, we went to a great vegetarian restaurant called WaterCourse Foods. It was affordable and tasty.

Boulder
In Boulder, we walked along Pearl Street Mall and thought about how small the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica is by comparison. For dinner, we stopped by Mustard's Last Stand, a hot dog paradise. I was very excited to find veggie dogs on the menu. Eric can attest that the real dogs were great too.

We also found a great chain of local ice-cream stores called Glacier Homemade Ice-Cream. Eric says that their ice-cream is some of the best he has ever had. The next day, when exploring near the university, we stumbled onto Coffee Cafe Play, a fantastic coffee shop with huge comfy couches and free wireless.

Fort Collins
We spent most of our time in Fort Collins in Old Town hanging out with other folks who had flown in to attend Baca and Christine's wedding. Old Town is like an authentic Disneyland Main Street. In fact, after some googling, I found out that Disneyland modeled their Main Street after Fort Collins'.

It was also great to have a chance to eat real Mexican food at the rehearsal dinner. Consuelo's Mexican Restaurant catered and the food was fantastic. It will be hard to get used to Durhamized Mexican food again.
